Microscopic Confocal Topography Scanner for Broken Phonograph Cylinders (Revision 2.3)
Microscopic Confocal Topography Scanner for Broken Phonograph Cylinders (Revision 2.3)
OPERATIONAL ABSTRACT
A 3D confocal scanning station that digitizes the surface fragments of shattered nineteenth-century phonograph cylinders, computationally reassembling them into playable audio. Enhanced revision 2 with improved low-noise shielding and updated real-time firmware.
TECHNICAL SUMMARY & TRANSDUCTION DYNAMICS
Chromatic confocal sensors measure surface elevation across cracked cylinder shards. Computational stitching algorithms align fragment boundaries and trace continuous groove paths. Calibrated for studio and field use under ZIAA experimental protocols. Harmonic distortion measured under 0.02% across primary operating range.
