DSP-NAN-EXPLODE: Recursive Convolution Kernel Numerical Explosion
DSP-NAN-EXPLODE: Recursive Convolution Kernel Numerical Explosion
INCIDENT NARRATIVE
While experimenting with recursive spatial convolution in a live performance patch, a mathematical feedback coefficient exceeded 1.0001 due to unconstrained modulation LFO values. Within 4 audio blocks, output buffers exploded into floating-point NaN (Not a Number) values, muting the audio interface.
ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS
Absence of hard mathematical clamping on feedback coefficient parameters in custom C++ DSP externals.
CONTAINMENT PROTOCOL
Implemented hard coefficient clamping and automatic NaN sanitization wrappers in the core audio DSP library.
