INCIDENT NARRATIVE
An overnight scan of an ancient Grecian ceramic urn shard was invalidated when ambient room temperature dropped 4°C between midnight and 5:00 AM. The aluminum breadboard contracted slightly, causing the 632.8 nm helium-neon reference beam to misalign with the balance photodiode.
ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS
Using an uninsulated aluminum breadboard in a room without precision closed-loop HVAC temperature stabilization.
CONTAINMENT PROTOCOL
Replaced aluminum breadboard with Invar zero-expansion alloy table and installed precision ±0.2°C temperature environmental controls in Studio C.
