3-Meter Longitudinal Spring Reverb Tank with Magnetic Eddy Dampers (Revision 2.3)
3-Meter Longitudinal Spring Reverb Tank with Magnetic Eddy Dampers (Revision 2.3)
OPERATIONAL ABSTRACT
A long-decay mechanical spring reverberator housing three parallel high-tensile steel springs, modulated by adjustable permanent neodymium magnetic damping brakes. Enhanced revision 2 with improved low-noise shielding and updated real-time firmware.
TECHNICAL SUMMARY & TRANSDUCTION DYNAMICS
Voice coil transducers directly drive longitudinal acoustic waves down tensioned steel coils. Movable copper plates create magnetic eddy currents that dynamically shorten reverberation decay from 12s to 1.5s. Calibrated for studio and field use under ZIAA experimental protocols. Harmonic distortion measured under 0.02% across primary operating range.
