Modulated Plasma Arc Loudspeaker with Wideband Ultrasonic Response (Revision 2.1)
Modulated Plasma Arc Loudspeaker with Wideband Ultrasonic Response (Revision 2.1)
OPERATIONAL ABSTRACT
A mass-less acoustic loudspeaker that directly ionizes ambient air using a high-voltage electrical arc, reproducing transient sound with zero mechanical inertia up to 60 kHz. Enhanced revision 2 with improved low-noise shielding and updated real-time firmware.
TECHNICAL SUMMARY & TRANSDUCTION DYNAMICS
A 30 kHz switching flyback transformer produces a continuous electrical discharge. Audio signals modulate arc temperature and current, producing acoustic pressure waves directly in air. Calibrated for studio and field use under ZIAA experimental protocols. Harmonic distortion measured under 0.02% across primary operating range.
