OPTICAL-SATURATION: Optical Sensor Saturation from Solar Flare Reflection
OPTICAL-SATURATION: Optical Sensor Saturation from Solar Flare Reflection
INCIDENT NARRATIVE
During a high-resolution optical scan of an unplayable 1904 wax cylinder in Studio C, unshielded afternoon sunlight reflected off an adjacent stainless steel tool tray directly into the linear CMOS camera's optical path. The sensor saturated to whiteout levels, truncating groove data.
ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS
Inadequate light baffling on the optical scanning rig and lack of automated sensor clipping detection in the recording daemon.
CONTAINMENT PROTOCOL
Installed opaque anodized aluminum shroud enclosures around all optical sensor stages and added an automated sunlight interlock.
