VOICE-COIL-THERMAL: Tactile Resonator Voice-Coil Overheating in Gallery Floor
INCIDENT NARRATIVE
During a weekend public sound festival, an invited guest composer programmed sustained 22 Hz sine tones at high power for 4 consecutive hours. Poor air circulation under the exhibition platform prevented adequate cooling of tactile transducer voice coils, causing the coils to rub against pole pieces and distort.
ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS
Continuous low-frequency test tones have zero cooling air displacement in sealed enclosures, rapidly accumulating internal heat.
CONTAINMENT PROTOCOL
Installed active ducted ventilation under floor installations and programmed automatic thermal throttling in the DSP audio processor.
